How Steadied works · ~2 min read

State before strategy.

A loss lands. You feel the pull to get it back. Before the next entry, check your state, see the next step, and give yourself room to choose how you respond. That is where Steadied fits into your trading day.

Clinical expertise, turned into a practice you can use at the screen.

When knowing your rules isn't enough

You can know your plan and still feel pulled to move a stop, chase an entry, or size up after a loss. Steadied helps you notice what is happening in those moments and practise responding deliberately.

A departure from your trading plan is logged as a STRAY. Recording it helps you look back at what led up to it, so you can practise noticing the pattern before the click.

The State Map

Start by choosing the description that fits how you feel right now. The State Map places that reading on a scale from Shut Down through Centered to Revved Up.

−8 to −4

Shut Down

Flat, frozen, checked out

−3 to +3

Centered

Present, focused, executing

+4 to +8

Revved Up

Anxious, euphoric, FOMO

No state is “good” or “bad”. They're all data. The deeper into Centered you are, the cleaner you execute. You read it before and during your sessions, the way a pilot checks the weather.

The daily loop

  • 01

    Measure

Before the next trade, take a 30-second state check. Before the open, use the Pre-Market scan. When something feels off, look more closely at your feelings, images, sensations, and thoughts with F.I.S.T.

  • 02

    Regulate

When you read hot or shut down, run the matching protocol to get back toward center, instead of trading through it.

  • 03

    Debrief

Close the day with a short review: where did you follow your plan, where did you drift, and what helped? Keep a record you can learn from next time.

Start with one state check. Add the other tools as you learn them.

Where it sits while you trade

None of that loop is something you leave the chart to do. Steadied detaches into its own window and stays above your trading platform, so a state check is a glance rather than a hunt through your tabs. Pick the shape that fits your screen:

Tall. Steadied sits as a column beside your platform, in its own slice of the screen, while the position is open.

Three things live in that window:

  • The cockpit: where your state is right now, the values anchor you wrote for yourself, a one-tap trade logger, and a defusion prompt for when the urge shows up.
  • A launcher to every surface in the app. What fits in the bar opens in the bar; the rest hands off to your main window, which keeps its place instead of piling up tabs.
  • Your check-in nudges, arriving over the chart while it still matters, rather than in a tab you stopped looking at an hour ago.

Desktop Chrome or Edge keeps the window above your platform. Other browsers open it as an ordinary window: fine on a second screen, but it will not stay on top.

The Fundamentals

Steadied is built on the Fundamentals: five practices, learned in sequence, because each one depends on the last. You start with detecting.

  • 01

    DETECT

    Notice what is happening.

Recognise changes in your state before the next decision.

  • 02

    DIRECT

    Choose what guides your trading.

Name your values and the boundaries you want to trade within.

  • 03

    DEFUSE

    Create space before the click.

Practise noticing a thought or urge without having to act on it.

  • 04

    OBSERVE

Watch the pattern as it unfolds.

Notice signs of tilt and how your state changes during a session.

  • 05

    INTEGRATE

    Bring the learning into tomorrow.

Review decisions, record departures from your plan, and choose what to practise next.

Detection sharpens in about two weeks of daily practice. Full integration typically takes 8–12 weeks.

Where it pays off

Over weeks, your record gives you a clearer view of your patterns: what tends to happen before you move a stop, chase an entry, or trade outside your plan. Look for:

  • Which hour of the day you get most activated
  • Which triggers reliably predict your worst states
  • How this week is trending against your own baseline
  • How often you drifted off plan, and what came right before it
  • Which regulation protocols actually return you to green

Knowing your pattern gives you something specific to practise. Bring that learning into the next session, one decision at a time.

Start with one reading.

You don't have to do everything at once. Log where your state is right now. That gives you a place to begin.
